Candida Albicans can cause a myriad of symptoms such as: Gas, bloating, weight gain, digestive disorders, headaches, fatigue, memory loss, mental confusion, poor-concentration, learning problems, irritability, anxiety, depression, respiratory problems, yeast infections, bladder infections, prostate problems, psoriasis, acne, low libido, hormone imbalances, toe nail fungus, arthritis, autism, ringing in the ears, emotional problems, constipation, diarrhea, joint or muscle pain and Candida Albicans can be involved in such serious illnesses as cancer, aids, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, lupus and Alzheimer's disease.
Candida Allbicans is a strain of yeast, which is present in every human being. It occurs naturally in the digestive tract, skin, mouth and nose and other mucous membranes where damp, moist environments give it an opportunity to grow. In a healthy state, Candida Albicans exists in balance with normal intestinal flora or bacteria, which is necessary for digestion, assimilation of nutrition and the prevention of infection. Under certain conditions, this yeast can rapidly increase and in its' fungal form, can overgrow the normal, beneficial bacteria:
Candida Albicans yeast can affect either sex at any age, including infancy. It appears to be more prevalent in women, probably due to the nature of their delicate endocrine systems. In adults this syndrome and its' inherent imbalances, is almost always diagnosed as a mental problem. The patient is usually told it is all in their head and is referred for psychotherapy. The rapid disappearance of all symptoms when the yeast is eradicated, illustrates the capacity of this fungus to be a component in many serious imbalances.
Because Candida Albicans yeast is fed on starches and sugars, it rapidly proliferates. Two common symptoms associated with Candida are fatigue and sugar cravings. Once the overgrowth of Candida is under control, these cravings diminish.
If you have taken antibiotics, birth control pills or steroid medications or consume a diet that is high in starches, sugars or alcohol, Candida Yeast may be part of your symptom profile. Candida is easy to eradicate!! Simply adhere closely to an anti-Candida diet and take appropriate anti-fungal agents.
The Candida Diet
Foods that do not promote yeast growth:
Fresh vegetables, meats, poultry, fish and eggs, nuts, seeds, oils, butter, non-allergic whole grains, water and herbal teas.
For example, avocados, smoked salmon, cashew nuts, steaks, salads, Mediterranean cooking, devilled eggs, etc. do not promote yeast growth.
Foods to avoid:
Cookies, cakes, candies, pastries, processed carbohydrates, milk, cheese and milk products, mushrooms, pickles, vinegar, beer, wine, brewer's yeast, excessive fruit, fruit juice, dried fruits, sugar and sugar containing foods.
* Usually 1 piece of fruit daily, tbsp. vinegar, and an occasional ounce of hard liquor will not contribute significantly to yeast overgrowth.
